He couldn’t afford his life because of extreme poverty in the beginning, so he went to the Church and confessed it to the Father. He received the help equally, though he’s not Christian. The only thing that the Father required in return, quite to my surprise, was that next time when the student met someone in hardness, he was supposed to give help. This, I think, serves as a proof in the Bible that God loves you, and you should love other people around, though they might be your enemies. Then, in some sense, the Bible, to westerners, is not only a religious masterpiece, but a book full of wisdom, kindness, and philosophy as well. And this is why they read it, learn it, and believe in it, and by doing this, in turn, they have been helped to sort out difficulties encountered in daily life, their life guided to a brighter way. The Bible presents a historical religion and thus it is no easy job to read and understand it thoroughly. Even the most devotional Christian may have difficulties in comprehending it. Acting on this contention, it can be imagined how hard it is for us, who barely have any idea of it before, to understand it. Being no professional researcher myself, I might not well understand the Bible and western culture in a way that can be considered as profound and in-depth. Instead of the history, each time I read the Bible to focus on the philosophic words and stories. The Bible has been teaching us to be virtuous, to be forgiving, to be contented and to be strong as well, while at one and same time, it also places commandments on restricting the ethic, and shows care for humanism. We were taught the idealistic was inaccurate, and the Bible was of no sense at all. Why, simultaneously, is that a growing number of people has been coming to believe in it, inclusive of many outstanding scholars? Everyone should nurture certain belief to avoid getting lost, which might well be the reason why we come to read it.
